Vadakkumnathan Temple

Amazing Kerala / Vadakkumnathan Temple

Vadakumnathan temple is one of the most prominent spot dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the bulkiest temples in Kerala. The last days of Adi Sankara is supposed to have spent over this place. It is built in the classic pattern of the Kerala style of architecture. The Koothambalam(theatre) and shrines  exhibits exquisite vignettes carved in wood. Legend points out that this temple was built by Parasurama. It is prominent for its April/May Pooram Festival, which includes magnificent and colourful processions, fireworks andelephants.
