Situated on the north-east of the Palakkad district and spread over 827 sq km, Attappady is one of the bulkiest tribal settlements in the State. The concerto of forests, rivers and mountains here is highly remarkable. Tribals like the Mudugas and the Irulas live here, though their density of population is low. They are worshippers of the mountain peak ‘Malleeswaran’ as a huge ‘Siva-linga’.
Sivarathri is the Malleeswaran temple’s most significant festival. The Bhavani River and Malleeswaran peak exert tremendous persuade on their lives. A VIP Guest House, a PWD Rest House and a few hotels offer accommodation at Agali, which is 38 km from Mannarkkad.
